Who doesn’t love beanies? Beanies are a head covering usually used in winter and mostly knitted or woven. Just as jeans entered popular culture after being worn by mine workers a long time ago, beanies became popular long after laborers had begun using them to protect their heads from hazardous materials, dirt and grease.
Nowadays, beanies are not used only by laborers; men and women of all ages and backgrounds, from teenagers to older people, love to wear beanies. They are worn not only during the winter or in cold weather, but in every season and on any occasion, depending on fashion trends. Beanies match well with any kinds of clothes. Most types of beanies are very stretchable, except for beanies made from materials like leather.
Other names for beanies include ski hats, skull caps, knit caps, knit hats, wooly hats, and stocking caps. Woven beanies are known as skullcaps, while knitted beanies may be known as watch caps, sailor’s caps, stocking caps, or ski caps. Knitted beanies are usually made to be stretchy and warm, useful in cold weather.
Not only do beanies have different names, they have a variety of models, styles and types, depending on trends and events. Beanies can be modified for any look. You can add badges, pins, dolls or embroidered logos, or modify them by cutting and sewing.
There are several types of beanies, with different patterns or forms.
Cuffless Beanies
Cuffless beanies are the most common type of beanie found in clothing stores. Cuffless means the beanie has a defined length, from the top of the head to the edge of the fabric, with no extra length to unroll. Usually the edge of the beanie reaches the forehead. This kind of beanie is suitable for wearing in average weather, because there is no extra thickness of cuff to make your head feel hot. Cuffless beanies are usually available in solid colors like black, dark brown or dark blue. They also come in contrasting colors, like red mixed with yellow and white, or with patterns. Some come already embroidered with logos.
