- don't squash your fedora onto your head - it's not a beanie hat
- don't perch it either, another silly mistake. Just let it sit naturally atop your head. You are not posing for a camera, you're just trying to look (naturally) cool. Even Indy didn't perch
- buy more than one. Classic black is great - but dull if worn over and again. There are various colors so use your imagination - after all you're not buying gold bars ... they're just hats
- wear it with jeans, trousers, shirts, jackets - think about how you dress normally, don't start going crazy just because you're about to buy a new fedora and wear it for the first time
- if it helps, do think about Indiana. He's hardly known for his dress sense and the era the films are based in are a way back and yet - despite his very tatty, badly thrown together look, the hat works
