What is a clarifying shampoo
Ian Michael Black, Aveda Global Artistic Director for Hair Color, explains that a clarifying shampoo is a cleaning shampoo that is designed to deep cleanse your hair.It removes not just dirt and oil but all unwanted residue.
“Clarifying shampoo helps with the removal of any buildup of styling products that have been applied to the hair,” says Ian. “It can also remove chlorine, which is not usually removed from the hair by a softer, milder shampoo, and can build up in your hair, giving it a very wire-like texture.”
When to use clarifying shampoo
When you notice that your favorite regular shampoo is not working as good as it previously used to. It’s because it’s building up its own residue so you need to clean your hair thoroughly with a clarifying shampoo and then start over.
Ian says everyone can benefit from a clarifying shampoo once a week. “They generally make your hair feel ‘squeaky clean’ and can help bring back a better shine to your hair,” he says.
Using a clarifying shampoo before an intense conditioning treatment is a good idea. As it will remove all unwanted residue and product build up on your hair, leaving your hair free to absorb all the goodies from your conditioning treatment.
Are cheap shampoos bad for hair?
A shampoo is not one of those ‘’you get what you pay for products’’.How much you like a particular shampoo depends on your personal preferences and health and condition of your hair.A 4 $ shampoo may smell nice to you and leave your hair feeling fresh and smooth ,while someone else may feel the same way about a 30 $ bottle. Big companies that create drugstore brands put a lot of money and effort into research and technology, but they can keep prices low because they produce their products in mass quantities.
How important it is to use conditioner
A Conditioner finishes what a shampoo starts. Using a conditioner after a clarifying shampoo is good for hair because clarifying shampoos are usually drying .A conditioner brings back the moisture stripped from hair and also helps manage other hair problems like repair split ends. "Everyone's hair is damaged — the only question is how badly," says Cheri McMaster, senior research and development scientist for Pantene. You may go through many conditioners before you find the right one, but you'll know when you've met your match. "
Should warm water be used while shampooing?
Warm water helps the shampoo lather well and also removes the soap from hair easily.Avoid really hot water, which can actually damage your hair, warns David Edery, owner of Attitudes Paris Salon in Houston. Use lukewarm water to wash your hair. For the final rinse cold water is best.
